ZACKARIAN JR., EDWARD "Fast Eddie" “Eddie Zack Jr.” 75, of West Greenwich, passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife Susan M. (Cafro) Zackarian by his side on Sunday, January 26, 2020. Born in Providence, he was a son of Dorothy (Swenson) Zackarian of Coventry and the late Edward “Eddie Zack” Zackarian.
Edward was employed as a skilled iron worker before enlisting in the United States Navy. He served a total of six years both active duty and reserve during the Vietnam War. For many years he was a tour bus operator in Nashville, entrusted with driving his bus “Amanda” for the late Country music legend Don Williams. He also drove for the late Dan Seals and the late Merle Haggard just to name a few. After the tour, he was employed as a technician for the Prevost Bus Co. in Hendersonville, TN before returning to Rhode Island in 2013.
Always an entertainer in the music industry, “Eddie Zack Jr.” saw the need to reintroduce Country music back into Rhode Island, by forming a super star band made up of many well- known RI musicians, where they performed many shows at the Mishnock Barn for several years.
He was the father of David Stockford of CT., and Peter Hart of Warwick. He was the grandfather of Madison, Adam, Brandon, Janie and Lilly. Edward was the brother of Dorothy “Dottie Zack” Savory of Coventry, and the late Peter Zackarian and Elizabeth Marland.
Military Honors followed by a Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021 scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM at the Mishnock Barn, 200 Mishnock Rd., West Greenwich, RI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation ( www.tunnel2towers.org ), the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org ), or Hope Health Hospice, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 would be appreciated.
