EILEEN E. MERCURIO

MERCURIO, EILEEN ELIZABETH, 87, of East Greenwich,  passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at South County Hospital, Wakefield. She was the widow of the late Corrado O. Corse.  

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Ella (Moretti) Scungio. 

Before her retirement, Eileen worked as a Supervisor for Travelers Insurance in Providence for many years. She enjoyed cooking and baking, traveling the world, and playing  board and card games (the majority of the time as the winner). Above all, the time that she spent  with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, is what Eileen cherished the most. 

Eileen was the loving mother of Cynthia “Cindy” Mercurio, Cathy DiBiase, her husband Frank Jr., Sandra Karns, her husband Michael,  and Toni Marie Acampora, her husband Joseph Jr.; Adoring grandmother and guardian angel of Antonio Sandoval (Mattsue), Amalia Fischer (Timothy), Frank DiBiase III (Andrea), Christine DiBiase (Francesca), Kenneth Karns, Matthew Karns, Joseph Acampora III; Great Grandmother of Jaron Fischer, Serena Fischer, and Frank DiBiase IV. She was the loving sister of Ann Bottone (Thomas), and the late Joseph Scungio Jr. (Suzanne). Eileen was the loving sister-in-law of Ronald and Linda Mercurio. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. 

Family and friends are invited to Eileen’s Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 3rd Street, East Greenwich. Inurnment  at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston is respectfully private. Arrangements by the Iannotti Funeral Home.
