ELEANOR D. (LAMBOMBARD) BIGWOOD

Eleanor D. (Labombard) Bigwood, 101 of Holden, Massachusetts, formerly of West Warwick, RI passed away peacefully at Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center on May 5, 2026.

Born on October 1, 1924 in Worcester, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Charles Labombard and Aldea (Duval) Labombard.

On April 30, 1942 she married the love of her life Donald F. Bigwood. Together they shared a life full of travel, fun and love until Donald’s passing in 1996.

She leaves her brother John Bombard of Aiken, SC, her sister-in-laws, June of Worcester, MA  and Margaret Conley of  Buford, GA. She leaves numerous nieces and nephews who will all say she was the Best Aunt and certainly the most fun! She also leaves numerous Great nieces and Great nephews as well as Great-Great nieces and Great-Great nephews, especially Thomas and Liam Duffy who would visit her often and brought her so much joy (and not quietly!) and many friends.

Ellie had a great sense of humor, which was the key to her long life. No matter what was going on, she never complained, always had a smile on her face and was always very social!

She was a talented artist and baker, having baked many wedding cakes for her nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing and JHC Hospice for their wonderful care.

Burial with Committal Prayers will be held Friday, May 22, 2026 at 1:00 PM in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 S. County Trail, Exeter, RI. Those planning to attend are asked to gather at the main entrance one half hour prior. 

A Celebration of Life will be held, Saturday, May 23, 2026 from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM at her beloved niece Cathy Friedman’s house.
