ATHAIDE, Elizabeth L. “Betty”, 82, of 6 Lane B, Coventry, RI, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Alpine Nursing Home.
She was the beloved wife of Robert Athaide and cherished mother of Kenneth and Raymond Athaide, all of Coventry, RI. Grandmother of Kevin, Stephen, and James Athaide and of Christopher Athaide, whom was predeceased.
A former longtime resident of Warwick and later Coventry, RI, she spent her remaining years as a resident at Alpine Nursing Home. Born in Providence to Frank and Florence (Connelly) Hunt. She grew up attending The Assumption Church and Catholic School on Potters Ave., in Providence. She worked in the jewelry industry for many years then later at her favorite job as a school bus driver in Warwick, servicing students from Winman Jr. High and Tollgate High School in the 1980’s. She loved the kids and they loved her, especially as she used to “blast the boombox” with the music of the day. She loved all genres of music from Country and Western to early Rock and Roll. An avid sports fan, she loved to cheer on the Red Sox, Patriots, and Bruins.
In addition to her immediate family, she also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and has now rejoined her sisters Marie, Joan and Peg and her brother Frank Jr. in heaven. Our many thanks to the entire staff at Alpine Nursing Home for taking such wonderful care of “Betty” in her final years.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm in the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117), Coventry, with a Memorial Service to be held at 7:00 pm. Interment in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery will be private for the family.
