INMAN, EVELYN M. (GODEK), 88, of Coventry, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at the Riverview Healthcare Community. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, Edward S. “Ted” Inman Jr. in 2009. Born in Coventry, she was a daughter of the late Walter S. and Caroline (Kusiak) Godek.
Evelyn was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was proud of her Polish-American heritage, had a strong Catholic faith as a lifetime parishioner of Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, and as an educator, Evelyn was a respected mentor in the community.
Evelyn graduated from Coventry High School, class of 1953. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from URI, a master’s degree in education from Rhode Island College, and a master's degree in library science from Bridgewater State University. Evelyn was employed at Coventry High School for over 38 years as a librarian and English teacher, before retiring in 1994.
Evelyn served on the RI Democratic State Committee, she was Secretary of the West Bay Korean War Veterans Association, as well as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Evelyn was a member of the Anthony PNA, and the former Pawtuxet Valley Junior Women’s Club.
Evelyn was the mother of Mark W. Inman (Karen) of NJ., Gregory S. Inman (Tracey), Edward S. Inman III, Bradford J. Inman (Susan), all of Coventry, and Sarah K. Inman (Joseph Longo III) of LA. She was the grandmother of John, Robert, Stephen, Karoline, Sarah E., Hannah, Bradford S., Emily Inman (Scolavino) and Santangelo Longo; and the great-grandmother of John, Luke, David, Theodore, Adelyn, Grace and Bradford W. Inman. Evelyn was the sister of the late Waltela “Ella” Jones.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 8:45 am from the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd. (Rte.3) Coventry, with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church. Interment at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.
