EVERETT "Gus" N. VARDEN

VARDEN, EVERETT “GUS”, 91, of West Warwick, passed away peacefully at home   on Saturday, June 7, 2025. He was predeceased in 2023 by the love of his life, Elaine (Martin) Varden, with whom they shared 67 years of marriage.  Born in and raised in Cumberland, Rhode Island, he was a son of the late Sidney and Gertrude (Allen) Varden.

In his earliest years, Everett spent his childhood in Cumberland and later moved to Warwick, Rhode Island. He enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War before his Honorable Discharge. Gus then settled in West Warwick where he and his beloved wife, Elaine, raised their family.

Gus was a lifelong automobile enthusiast and always enjoyed working on cars. A passion which ultimately led him to his career as the East Coast Auditor for Volkswagen of America, retiring after 25 years. Gus was also an excellent bowler, a fun golfer, a seasoned gardener, and an all around good guy with a great sense of humor. Above all things, visits from his grandchildren was what he cherished most.   

Everett was the loving father of Cidney Uralowich (Steven), Everett N. Varden Jr., and Kim Marie Beauchamp (Bob). Adoring grandfather of Jennifer, Jason, Joan, Garland, and Luke; great grandfather of Catherine, William, Aiden, Audrey, Abbey, Remington, Grayson, and Gavin. Gus, was the beloved brother in law to Marilyn Varde.  He was the brother of the late William Varden.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM in the Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington Street (ROUTE 117), Coventry. Burial with Military Funeral Honors at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter to follow.
