HAIBON, FREDERICK W. “FRED” 90, of Tiogue Ave., Coventry, passed away at the Riverview Healthcare facility on Thursday, November 18, 2021. He was the husband of the late Lorraine (Lannon) Haibon. Born in Salem, MA, he was a son of the late Edward M. and Stella (Gracka) Haibon.
After completing high school, Fred served as a Petty Officer in the US Navy during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Fred was proud of his 20 years of service to the Country he so much loved. A resident of Coventry since 1961, he was an auxiliary policeman in the Coventry Police Dept. Fred enjoyed traveling, solving cryptogram puzzles, and playing Lottery scratch tickets.
He was the father of Frederick W. “Rick” Haibon Jr. (Nancy) of Warwick, James G. Haibon (Gretchen) of Phillipston, MA, Brian D. Haibon (Lori) of Coventry, Lori B. Noury of Lake Worth, FL, and Mary-Ann Hanlon (Thomas) of Coventry. He was the grandfather of 14; and the great-grandfather of 10. Fred was the brother of Edward M. Haibon of Old Orchard Beach, ME, Pauline Chludzenski of Beverly, MA, Eleanor Marshall of Danvers, MA, and the late John and Thomas Haibon.
His funeral will be Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 8:45 am from the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd. (Rte.3) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church. Interment with military honors at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
