GAIL-ANN (DECOSTA) AVERSA

AVERSA, GAIL-ANN (DECOSTA) 78, formerly of Lawnwood Rd., Coventry, RI passed away at the West Shore Health Center in Warwick, on Sunday, March 30, 2025. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 47 years, Thomas H. “Muzzy” Aversa in 2014. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Fernandes) DeCosta.

Gail was employed for over 25 years as a bookkeeper before retiring. Many of those years were for the Rhode Island Beverage Distributing Company in West Greenwich. Gail had been the secretary of the Coventry Pop Warner Football League. She also was a key member of the Coventry High School Oakers Football Team Booster Club. Gail loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was the dear mother of Thomas P. Aversa and his wife Melanie, Karen Marie Aversa, all of Cranston, and Kimberly Anne Aversa and her husband Robert Perry of Coventry. Gail was the sister of Rosemary Jones of Delaware and the late Manuel DeCosta. She was the adoring grandmother of the late Jacob Aversa; and her surviving grandchildren, Skyla Aversa, Matthew Aversa, Tyler Perry, Taylor Perry, Thomas Perry.

Her funeral will be Friday morning, April 4, 2025 at 10 am from the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd.,(95/exit 18/Rte.3) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial 11 am in Saints John & Paul Church. Interment at Saint Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich. Visiting hours are Thursday evening, April 3, 2025 from 4 pm to 7 pm.
