COVENTRY- Gary P. Cote, 63, of Coventry, passed away surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of his dear family on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at his home in Coventry. He was the devoted husband for 41 wonderful years to the love of his life, Marguerite D. (Cournoyer) Cote.
Born on October 11, 1959, in Warwick, he was one of eight children born to late William Robert Phillips and Claire Rita (LaPlante) Cote.
A hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family, Gary worked as a Truck Driver in the paving industry for T. Miozzi, Inc., North Kingstown.
Wanting to give back to the town he grew up in, Gary devoted much of his time to public service. He was a longtime member of the Coventry Town Council, a position in which he took great pride in. Gary had a passion for helping his constituents and fellow residents of Coventry.
In his spare time Gary enjoyed horseback riding, taking leisurely drives on his motorcycle, and spending time outdoors camping with his friends and family.
In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by his caring and cherished daughter: Diana L. Cote-Santos; his grandchildren: Angelina and Mariah Santos; his siblings: Connie, Wayne, Richard, and Michael Cote; and also numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, Gary is predeceased by his siblings: Lucien, Pete, and Raymond Cote.
Memorial Visiting Hours will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 11:00am-2:00pm at the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Road, (RTE. 3), Coventry. Gary’s family encourages attendees to wear the color purple in tribute to Gary. Burial will be held privately.
