BROWN, GEORGE D., 79, of the Hope section of Scituate, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 22, 2026. Born in Willimantic, Connecticut, he was a son of the late George D. and Doris M. (Brouillard) Brown-Boisclair.
After high school, George enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving in the Vietnam War. Corporal Brown earned a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in battle. He specialized as an Antitank Assaultman as well as achieving a Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, a Vietnam Service Medal, a Vietnam Campaign Medal, a Navy Unit Commendation, a Good Conduct Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. After an honorable discharge, he was employed as an electrician at Kenyon Piece Dye Works Incorporated for over 20 years before retiring in 1996. George had been a volunteer fire fighter with the Charlestown and Richmond fire station. He was a member of the Odd Fellows as well as the Charity Lodge of Masons in Charlestown. George enjoyed shooting at the Midstate Gun Club, hunting and fishing. But mostly, he loved to spend time with his family, especially his four grandchildren and his five great-grandchildren.
He was the father of Kim M. Dutilly of West Warwick, Tammy L. Lebrun and her husband Raymond J. Lebrun Jr. of Scituate, and the late Scott N. Dutilly. George was the grandfather of Raymond J. Lebrun III, Anastasia Lebrun, Robert Dutilly, and Scott N. Dutilly Jr. He was the great-grandfather of April, Bella, Robert, Melody and Bentley Dutilly. George was the brother of Agueda Zydyk, Elva Brown and Annette Bloodworth, all of Texas.
Visiting hours will be on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, with a Memorial Service at 12:30 pm, followed by military honors in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd.
