GEORGE M. KOCHIEN

KOCHIEN, GEORGE M., age 101, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the Golden View Health Care Center in Meredith, NH. He was the husband of the late Sophie T. (Kania) Kochien. Born on February 19, 1920 in Clearfield, PA, he was a son of the late Andrew and Mary Podaliski Kechisen.

George graduated from Osceola Mills High School in Pennsylvania. In WWII, George served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of War as an Technical Sergeant in the Army Air Force. As an Air Crew member and plane maintenance technician, he fought in several battles and campaigns earning several medals and accomadations  including the Asiatic Pacific Campaign medal with two bronze stars, a Good Conduct medal, a Distinguished Unit Badge, and a World War II Victory medal. After an honorable discharge, George was a Supervisor and an aircraft technician at the Quonset Point Naval Air Station for many years until retiring.

He was the father of Kenneth G. Kochien and his wife Paula of Plymouth, NH and Patricia A. Johnson and her husband Steven of West Greenwich. grandfather of James, Katherine, Anna Kochien, Kimberly Donall (Johann) and Andrew Johnson; brother of Michael Kechisen in Ohio and the late Mary Victoria, Katherine Sivi, Anna Gonos, Stanley, Joseph, Andrew, John and Anthony Kechisen.

A visiting hour will be Tuesday morning, November 2, 2021 from 8:30 am -9:30 am in the IANNOTTI Funeral Home at 415 Washington St. (Rte.117) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, 445 Washington St., Coventry, RI 02816. Interment with military honors at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church would be appreciated.  iannottifh.com
