PLOUFFE, GEORGE R. (Chief EM US Navy retired) 82, of Dunnellon, FL and formerly of Westerlo, NY and Coventry, RI passed on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at the Advent Health-Ocala Hospital. He was the husband of L. Annette (Defosse) Plouffe for 60 yrs. Born in Coventry, he was a son of the late Wilfred and Nellie (Arcand) Plouffe.
After graduating from St. Francis High School in Biddeford Maine, George enlisted in the United States Navy. He served from August 1957 to honorably discharged as a Chief Electrician mate (EM7) in February 1977. George served during the Vietnam War. George was later employed for and retired from General Electric before retiring to Dunnellon, Florida over 20 years ago. George enjoyed retirement and showing his family the many sites in Florida.
He was the father of George R. Plouffe Jr. (Connie) of Haverhill, MA, Michael J. Plouffe (Sindy) of Medusa, NY, Richard D. Plouffe (Rhonda) of Albany, NY and Joseph W. Plouffe (Kelly) of Berne, NY. George is also survived by eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Normand Plouffe of Dunnellon, Florida, and the late Rita Lucier, Leo Plouffe, Claire Lucier and Robert Plouffe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 10 am in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 6 St. Vincent de Paul St., Coventry, RI. Interment with military honors at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter will be private for the family. Memorial donations to Alzheimer's Research would be appreciated.
