GERALD R. YOUNG

YOUNG, GERALD R., 81, of West Greenwich, passed away peacefully at his home, with his loving family by his side on Monday, March 30, 2026. He was the loving husband of 58 years to Mary “Mimi” (Braun) Young. 

Born in Easton, Pennsylvania Gerald was a son of the late Harlan and Dorothy (Kelchner) Young.

Gerald grew up in Pennsylvania and was a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College. He then earned his Masters Degree from the University of Rhode Island. He was a counselor at the Adult Correctional Institute in Cranston, RI for several years before becoming Director at the former Dismas House in Providence. He then worked as a Systems Analyst for Logicon until his retirement. He volunteered for Literacy Volunteers of Kent County for over twenty years. He was also a former member of the West Greenwich Planning Board. In his spare time he enjoyed reading and birdwatching. 

Besides his dear wife Mimi, Gerald is survived by his children, Robbie Young, and his wife Teresina, of East Providence, Jonathan Young, his partner Kerri Clauson, of Smithfield, Susanne Young of Parish, FL, Brianna Young of West Greenwich, and Isabella Young of Portland, ME. Loving Grandfather of Aaron Young and Katniss Young. Brother of Thomas Young of Simpsonville, KY, Jeanne Young of Pennsylvania, and the late Patricia Young. Gerald is also survived by his niece and nephew. 

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Friday, April 3, 2026 from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM, with a Funeral Service to begin at 6:00 PM, in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Road (ROUTE 3), Coventry, RI. Burial is respectfully private.
