Gloria A. (Devault) Steets, 93, of Coventry, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday morning, July 29, 2024 at the Riverview Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Coventry. She was the beloved wife of the late George S. Steets, who passed away on March 13, 2003.
Born in Providence, RI on October 8, 1930, Gloria was the beloved daughter of the late Leo T. and Mary E. (Gallant) Devault. Gloria was the loving sister of the late Marjorie White.
Gloria was raised in Warwick and was a graduate of Lockwood High School, Class of 1948. Years ago, she was employed as a Telephone Operator before becoming a Homemaker and raising her family.
Gloria was an accomplished golfer winning many golf tournaments over the years and was a member of Valley Country Club in Warwick. She was also an avid reader and walker and enjoyed the casinos. Gloria enjoyed spending time with her family and in later years truly loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gloria is survived by her loving children: Cheryl R. Steets and her husband, Larry Gitlin of Cotati, CA, Wendy A. Johnson and her husband, Philip of Coventry, Robin M. Petrarca and her partner, Mark Gendron of West Warwick, Kimberly A. Steets of Warwick and David F. Steets and his wife, Nancy of Cranston; five cherished grandchildren: Christine Petrarca, Kimberly Petrarca, Jennifer Bullock, Andrew Johnson, and David M. Steets; and two beloved great-grandsons: Nicholas Bullock and Michael Bullock.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours on Monday, August 5, 2024 from 9 AM - 10:45 AM followed by a Funeral Service at 10:45 AM in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Road, Route #3, Exit 18 off Route 95, Coventry, RI. Committal Prayers for Gloria and her late husband, George will take place at Noon in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter. Military Honors will be accorded to George S. Steets, MN3, in recognition of his Honorable Service in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
