BABCOCK, GRACE I. (GARDINER) 92, of Hardig Rd., Warwick, and formerly of Johnston and Coventry, passed away at the Hope Health Hospice Center in Providence, on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband Walter E. Babcock in 2001. Born in Exeter, RI, she was a daughter of the late Amasa and Emma (Reynolds) Gardiner. Grace was the mother of Gary F. Babcock of Coventry and Debra A. Brown of Pawtucket. She was the sister of the late Henry Gardiner, Herman Gardiner, Arlena Thornley, Ernest Gardiner, and Betty Records. Grace is also survived by four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Grace graduated from Coventry High School in 1945 where she achieved National Honor Society admission. After High School, Grace was employed as a secretary for the late Dr. Whitman Merrill and also in the Coventry Town Clerk’s office. Grace was a School bus operator, caring for special needs students in the Coventry School System for over 20 years before retiring in 1983. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for 65 years.
Visitation will be Tuesday morning, July 7, 2020 from 10 – 11 am with a Service at 11 am in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd., (Rte.3) Coventry.
