Giovanni "John" Antonaccio Obituary

Giovanni "John" N. Antonaccio of West Warwick, RI passed away peacefully at home on August 26th, 2021, surrounded by his adoring family.  He was the loving son of the late Aquilino and Margaret Antonaccio.  He was married for 60 years to his beautiful bride, Madeline (Palazzo)Antonaccio, who pre-deceased him. 

John was a Korean War era veteran of the 705th AAA Gun Battalion in the US Army, serving as a Corporal Radio Operator.  He was employeed for 25 years at Fruit of the Loom before transitioning to the Warwick School District, where he worked for the superintendant for another 23 years.  In his retirement, he was a crossing guard for the West Warwick School District and he dedicated 35 years of his life as an usher in Father Ralph DiOrio Ministry.  He volunteered his time at Eleanor Slater Hospital,  Potterville Fire Station and he is a lifetime member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his devoted daughter Debra and her husband Nelson Quiles, his son John Jr (Lisa); his grandchildren who loved him like a father, Stephanie (James) Hagan and Melissa (Barry) Stark; and his great-grandchildren Debra Rose and Joshua John.  He was the dear brother of his baby sister Elizabeth "Lisa" (Arthur) Poccia and the late Marie Grechoski, Vincent and Silvio Antonaccio.  He leaves behind his cherished nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 9:30 AM, at Saints John and James Church, 20 Washington St, West Warwick, RI. Inurnment with Military Honors, will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, West Warwick.
