HELEN RITA BRODEUR

Helen Rita (Doucette) Brodeur, 74, of Coventry, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Kent Hospital in Warwick, with family by her side. She was the beloved daughter of the late Armand and Rita (Richard) Doucette.  

Helen was born on November 25, 1948 in Providence RI. She was raised in Coventry, where she graduated from Coventry High School before continuing on to Johnson & Wales University and earning her Associates Degree in Secretarial Sciences in 1967, becoming the first member of her family to earn a college degree. Following graduation, Helen worked several jobs before finally following her passion and opening a home-based daycare. 

Helen owned and operated Helen’s Day Care in Coventry for over twenty-five years, enhancing the lives of children from Coventry and surrounding towns until retiring ten years ago.  

Friends and family could always depend on a phone call from Helen to check in or simply say hello. Throughout her life, she enjoyed spending time in the community, singing in the church choir, or getting her hair done. But Helen’s true enjoyment was caring for the children in her life.

Helen is survived by her beloved children:  Robert A. Brodeur, Jr. and his wife, Carla of West Warwick, Michael D. Brodeur and his partner, Jing Wu of Cranston and Kimberly L. Fields and her husband, Jeremy of Ashaway; a brother:  Normand Doucette of Newport, NH; a sister:  Jeanne Doucette of Coventry; Sisters-in-law: Karen Doucette, Clare Doucette, and Annette Doucette; four cherished grandchildren:  Savannah Brodeur, Isaiah Brodeur, Aubree Fields and Jace Fields; and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Henry Doucette and Richard Doucette of Coventry.

Family and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Sunday, May 21, 2023 from 2 PM - 5 PM in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Road (ROUTE 3), Coventry.  A Funeral will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 10 AM from the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT,  followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. John and Paul Church, 341 South Main Street, Coventry.  A private burial will follow the Mass of Christian Burial.
