INGRID WILCOX Obituary

WILCOX, INGRID FRIEDA KATHARINA, (LANG) 90, of West Greenwich and formerly of Coventry, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at the Alpine Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Groeben, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Adolf and Frieda (Czastrau) Lang. Ingrid immigrated to the United States after meeting her former husband while he was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.

Ingrid lived a long life and she was a very proud and independent woman. As a small child, she survived the horrors of World War II, enduring more than most could ever imagine. Those experiences shaped her strength and resilience throughout her life. As a single parent, Ingrid worked hard to provide for her four children. Ingrid earned an associate’s Degree from CCRI, and became a certified Respiratory Therapist, employed at Rhode Island Hospital for twenty years. A career she had a true dedication to and passion for. Always yearning to learn, Ingrid was a voracious reader, and she later returned to Academia to earn a Master’s Degree in Psychology. Ingrid was loved by all who knew her, she showed her love through her actions, not just words. Ingrid had a great fashion sense and she enjoyed shopping. She loved the ocean and going to the beach. Above all, she loved to spend time with her family, especially her seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Ingrid was the caring mother of Bruce J. Wilcox of West Greenwich, Gregory H. Wilcox of Coventry, Kurt A. Wilcox (Lisa) of West Greenwich and Kimberly J. Carnevale (Robert) of Coventry. She was the adoring grandmother of Jessica Wilcox, Kurt A. Wilcox Jr., Vanessa Wilcox, Cody Wilcox, Jaden Carnevale, Dylan Carnevale and the late Dean Wilcox. Ingrid is also survived by two great-granddaughters Julianna and Sophia. Ingrid also leaves her sister-in-law Irmgard Lang and several nieces and nephews in Germany. She was the sister of the late Wolfgang Lang and Wilfried Lang.
