IRENE ELIZABETH (COSTA) DUCHARME

DUCHARME, IRENE E., 96, of West Warwick, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph R. Ducharme in 2000. Born in West Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Antonio Costa Soares and Maria (Santos) Costa Soares. 

Irene was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She graduated from West Warwick High School, class of 1947. After raising her family, Irene was employed as a supervisor at the former School House Candy Company for over 20 years before retiring. Irene enjoyed creating arts and crafts with her late husband, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family.

Irene was the mother of Eric Ducharme (Estelle) of Coventry, Jessica Wood (Bill) of Florida, Joseph R. Ducharme Jr. (Karen) of Coventry, Kathryn A. Proulx (Richard) of Coventry, and the late Kenneth T. Ducharme Sr. (late Debra). Irene was the sister of Raymond Costa (Joan) of Coventry, and the late Joseph Costa Soares (Hilda), Maria Furtado, Vera Provencher (Roy), Mable Marques (Jack), Mary Amaral (Frank), Arthur Costa (Rita), Dorothy Adams (William) and Hilda Rossi (John). Irene is also survived by her eleven grandchildren; Andrea Zabatta, Candice Motta, Richard Proulx Jr., Michael Proulx, Melanie Ducharme, Krystle Ducharme, Joseph Ducharme III, Kenneth Ducharme Jr., Renee Ducharme, Heidi Lavallee, and Ashley Lopes.  Irene also leaves numerous great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 from 9:00 am to 10:45 am, with a Memorial Service at 10:45 am in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd. (Rte.3) Coventry. Interment at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter to follow. iannottifh.com
