IRENE E. DUGDALE

COVENTRY- Irene E. (Copice) Dugdale, 68, of Coventry, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family, on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, after a three week stay at Kent Hospital in Warwick. She was the devoted wife to the love of her life, Robert E. Dugdale, who passed away on May 19, 2006. 

Born on July 24, 1953, in Providence, Irene was the youngest of four children born to the late Louie and Helen (Sylvestre) Copice. She grew up in Coventry and was a graduate of Coventry High School. 

For many years, Irene was a Food Server at Original New York System in West Warwick. She was loved by all customers and regulars for her kind and helpful demeanor and she strived to put the capital “S” in Service. Irene was also a familiar face and voice at Richard’s Oil in Coventry, where she worked for many years as a Secretary, ensuring the office was kept in tip top shape. 

Anyone who knew Irene, knew her and loved her for her sweet and caring character. She was one of the most generous souls you would ever meet,  never hearing the word “no” come out of her mouth. Irene was always smiling and even in her toughest days in the hospital, her smile never faded. 

In her spare time, Irene enjoyed going to the casinos and playing on the slot machines. She enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas and Hampton Beach in New Hampshire, often with her good friends Debbie and Richard accompanying her in her travels and vacations. Above all, Irene was most happy when she was in the presence of and making treasured memories with her dear friends and family, especially her great-grandson, Spencer, who has truly been a shining light in her life. 

Irene is survived by her proud sisters: Joan Langlois of West Warwick and Esther Santos and her companion Ronald Perreault of Coventry; her brother: Stephen Copice and his wife Judy of Las Vegas; her adoring grandchildren: Shawn, Katie, Court, and Joey; her precious great-grandson, Spencer; her “special cousin”, Rachael; and also, countless nieces, nephews, and friends. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Irene is predeceased by her late son: Louie “Lulu” Dugdale, who she loved and missed dearly.  

Irene’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 6, 2021, at 10:00am in Saint John and James Parish, 20 Washington St., West Warwick, with Rev. Fr. Nicholas T. Fleming, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be private. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO CHURCH IF YOU PLAN ON ATTENDING THE FUNERAL  MASS.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, December 5, 2021, from 4 00pm-7:00pm at IANNOTTI FUNERAL HOME, 415 Washington St., (Rt. 117), Coventry, RI. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the family has kindly requested that attendees wear please appropriate face coverings inside the funeral home.
