VERRIER, IRENE C., 73, of Coventry, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Kent Hospital, Warwick. She was the beloved wife of nearly 50 years to the late James B. Verrier.
Born in Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Eudore and Rita (Plouffe) Lucier.
Growing up in Warwick, Irene was a member of Pilgrim High School’s Graduating Class of 1969. A natural born athlete, Irene was an accomplished Softball player and a champion in bowling, bowling for over three decades. She was a lifelong fan of all sports and especially loved rooting for the Boston Celtics, New York Yankees, and never missed a single pitch of any softball game her granddaughter was competing in. Always a competitor herself, Irene enjoyed playing Bingo in her later years. Above all things, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who were truly the light of her life, is what Irene cherished most.
She is survived by her loving children, Jayme S. Verrier, her companion Howard Hughes, and twins, Andrea M. Verrier, her companion Peter Fanning, and Kara A. Verrier, her companion Jason Derrick. Irene was the adoring and doting grandmother of Alyssa M. Derrick, Andrew C. Derrick, and Peter F. Fanning II. Dear sister of Lorraine Forcier. She is also survived by her dear fur babies, Semper Fi, Leila, and Vegas.
Irene’s funeral will be Friday, February 14, 2025 at 9:00 AM in the Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington Street (Route 117), Coventry. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 854 Providence Street, West Warwick. Committal Prayers to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich. Visiting hours Thursday, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Arrangements by the Iannotti Funeral Home.
