ST. JEAN, JACK R., age 79, of Coventry, a retired administrator for the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island, and a Vietnam War veteran, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. He was the husband of Tammy L. Hopkins-St. Jean for 18 years. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Jack A. and Anita (Lussier) St. Jean.
Jack served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge, Jack was a Paramedic on the Disaster Medical Assistance Teams (DMAT) for over 40 years. He later was employed with the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island before retiring in 2014.
Jack enjoyed reading, especially about the history of this nation and of world history. For many years, Jack volunteered in many capacities at the Major General Nathanael Greene Homestead in Coventry. But mostly, Jack loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
He was the father of Brenda L. Goulet (Ronald) of North Smithfield, Jack R. St. Jean Jr. of Vienna, Maine, David R. St. Jean (Allison) of West Warwick, Chad M. Guenet (April) of Griswold, CT and Aaron T. Guenet (Stephanie) of Thorton, NH. He was the brother of Ronald J. St. Jean of Newport and Marc R. St. Jean (Denise) of Mansfield, MA. Jack is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
His Funeral Service will be on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 11 am in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd.,(Rte.3) Coventry. Interment with military honors at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. Visiting hours are Thursday evening, August 8, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. iannottifh.com
