JAMES DANIEL FARIAS

James Daniel Farias, 58, of North Providence passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital.  He was the loving companion of thirty-eight years to Joseph A. Rocha.

Born in Warwick on May 10, 1965, James was the beloved son of Edith C. (Fournier) Farias of Coventry and the late Daniel J. Farias.

James was raised in Coventry and was a graduate of Coventry High School, Class of 1983.  He later studied at the Arthur Angelo School of Cosmetology.  James and Joseph owned and operated Dalve Hair Salon on Mineral Spring Avenue for the past thirty-five years.  

James enjoyed cooking, traveling, playing the guitar, piano and the accordian.  He enjoyed spending time with close friends, making others laugh, and had a unique ability to find humor in everything.  

In addition to his companion and mother, James is survived by two sisters:  Lisa M. Cotnoir (the late Keith A. Cotnoir) of Coventry and Kim L. Smith (Daniel E. Smith, III) of Mooresville, NC; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved canine companions: “Gigi” and “Ruby.”

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, August 14, 2023 from 9 AM - 10:30 AM in the Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington Street, ROUTE 117, Coventry followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Anthony Church, One Sunset Avenue, West Warwick.  A private committal of cremains will take place for immediate family members directly following James’s Mass of Christian Burial.
