JAMES SILVA Obituary

SILVA, JAMES THOMAS, 84, of West Warwick, passed surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Kent Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Jeannine I. (Parenteau) Silva in 2016.  Born in the Lippitt section of West Warwick, he was a son of the late Manuel F. and Mary “Mayme” (King) Silva.

 

James, a lifelong resident of the Pawtuxet Valley, was employed as a Lace Dyer for the former Hope Valley Dye in Crompton for 46 years before retiring as Superintendent in 1996. He was a Staff Sergeant in the Korean War, serving with the 24th Division 19th Infantry Regiment. James graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1963. He enjoyed the companionship of his cat “Rosie”. James belonged to the Foster Country Club. He was a past member of the Korean War Veterans Association.

 

He was the father of Steven J. Silva and his wife Allison of Richmond, Suzanne J. Pagano and her husband Michael of Cranston, and John F. Silva of West Warwick. James is also survived by

eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Raymond Silva and Gilbert Silva.

 

Visiting hours are Monday, March 5, 2018 from 8:00 am to 9:30 am in the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Anthony Church, West Warwick. Inurnment with military honors at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Heart Association         ( www.heart.org ) will be appreciated.
