JAMES BRIAN VERRIER

VERRIER, JAMES B., 75, of Grant Drive, Coventry, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, April 23, 2020. He was the husband of Irene C. (Lucier) Verrier. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on April 25, 2020. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Richard P. and Ethel (McCormick) Verrier.

James graduated from the former St. John the Baptist parochial school, Bishop Hendricken High School, attended Bryant College, served his Country during the Vietnam War, and under the G.I Bill, finished his schooling by earning a Bachelor’s Degree from Johnson & Wales University. He was a Supervisor at the State of Rhode Island Division of Taxation for over 25 years before retiring. James enjoyed golfing and spending time with his three grandchildren. James especially took pride in attending his granddaughter Alyssa’s softball games while playing for University of Maine before graduating.

He was the father of Jayme S. Verrier, and twins Andrea M. Verrier and Kara A. Verrier, all of Coventry. He was the grandfather of Alyssa M. Derrick, Andrew C. Derrick, and Peter F. Fanning II. James was the brother of Kathleen Lytle of California, Michael Verrier of Coventry, Mary Ellen Audette, Mark Verrier, Christa Mills all of West Warwick, Theresa Verrier of Ohio, and the late Peter and Stephen Verrier.

Relatives and friends are invited to Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 11 am in Saints John & Paul Church, 341 South Main St., Coventry, followed by committal prayers and military honors at Saint Joseph Cemetery in West Greenwich.
