EXETER- Jean Allen-Yannotti, 61, of Exeter, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, after a courageous and valiant long battle with Breast cancer. She was the longtime companion for over 20 years to Robert Zwolinski of Exeter and the former wife of the late Michael Yannotti, who passed away in 1998.
Born on August 7, 1960, Jean was one of four children born to the late John R. and Claire E. (Spencer) Allen. She is survived by her brother Jack Allen and sister Joyce Tindle.
For much of her career Jean was employed as an educator, working in the Special Education field. She took great pride in taking an active role in assisting youth and she went home every day knowing she made a difference in her student’s lives. Jean most recently worked in the Dining Services at New England Tech.
Through her own experiences of fighting cancer, Jean was an ardent supporter of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston and the work they do in service of others. She was also an advocate for breast cancer awareness, championing others in their fight.
In her spare time, Jean loved spending time outdoors often going camping and lounging at the beach. She took advantage of the beauty of New England by taking many road trips to explore the area, with her favorite destination being Bar Harbor, Maine. Jean was also a proud member of Steelers Nation as she was a dedicated fan of the NFL team, Pittsburgh Steelers.
An individual who was a free spirit, even on her toughest days in combatting cancer, Jean will be remembered for her positive attitude and impact she left on many.
In addition to her longtime companion, Jean is survived by her two proud children: Michael Yannotti and his wife Leanne and Alicia Yannotti and her significant other Michael Murray; her beautiful granddaughter: Charlotte Yannotti; her two siblings, and also cherished nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Jean is predeceased by her brother: Jim Allen and many other friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jean’s memorial visitation, on Saturday, November 20, 2021, from 11:30 am-1:30 pm, at the IANNOTTI FUNERAL HOME at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd., (Rt. 3), Coventry. Words of Remeberance will immediately begin at 1:30 pm, in the funeral home. All family and friends are invited to Tavern on the Hill in West Greenwich after for a Celebration of life.
