JEAN (MARTONE) CAPOTOSTO, 95, of North Port, Florida, formerly of Coventry, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully, with her daughter by her side, on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte, Florida.
She was born in Providence, Rhode Island on August 1, 1930, the daughter of the late Guido and Mary (Valvo) Martone.
Jean was the devoted wife of Domenic Capotosto; they were married for 75 years. She was the adored and loving Mother to her daughter Karen Capotosto of North Port. She is also survived by her son, Kenneth Capotosto, cherished granddaughter Melissa Carpenter (Chris) of Coventry, grandson Paul Capotosto and three great grandchildren. Jean was also “Grammy” to her grandcat, Molly. She was the sister of the late Bartholomew Martone and Beverly Werbicki.
Jean was the heart and soul of her family and built her home on a foundation of love, compassion and selflessness. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, quiet strength, deep faith and boundless love for her family. She was a stay-at-home Mom who loved preparing large meals for her family, especially during the holidays and for special occasions. Every year, Jean looked forward to the spring and summer seasons so that she could plant her annuals around the yard. She always took great pride in her flower gardens.
Jean will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.
A special thank you to Tidewell Hospice for their compassion and care for my Mom and our family over the past few weeks and to our friend, Karen Frustereo, who is God’s angel on earth; we could not have gotten through the past few months without her love, friendship and support.
Funeral services are private.
