CARPENTER, JEAN H., 89, of Warwick, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 31, 2026 at Kent Hospital, Warwick. She was the beloved wife of nearly 50 years to the late Leo I. Carpenter, who predeceased Jean in 2008.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Daniel W. and Anna (Cote) Duffy.
A natural born caregiver, Jean worked for over 35 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Cathleen Naughton Associates. She was a lifelong animal lover, enjoyed reading, and loved to crochet Afghan blankets for her family and friends. Jean will be remembered for her generous and selfless spirit.
Jean was the loving mother of Jay Carpenter (Dana Truhan) of Foster, and Linda Carpenter (Gary Maggs) of Coventry. She was predeceased by her siblings, Raymond Martin, Bernard Martin, Dr. Daniel Duffy, James Duffy, John Duffy, Robert Duffy, and Thomas Duffy. “Aunt Jean” also leaves behind several generations of loving nieces and nephews.
Jean’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Church, 1105 Main St., Hope Valley, RI. Burial at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery is respectfully private. Visiting hours will be Thursday, from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Road (ROUTE 3), Coventry.
