Jerry “Poppy” P. Ucci, 80, of Coventry, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Kent Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 54 years to Lucille T. (Collard) Ucci. They recently renewed their wedding vows on May 4, 2023.
Born in Coventry, he was the loving son of the late Jerry F. and Anita A. (Petrarca) Ucci.
Jerry was raised in Coventry and was a graduate of Coventry High School, Class of 1962. He also earned an Associates Degree from Roger Williams University and honorably served in the Rhode Island Army National Guard for 6 years.
Jerry was employed as a Machinist and Tool Maker for 35 years at Stanley-Bostitch and later retired from Guill Tool twenty years ago. Poppy was a masterful carpenter, electrician and a skilled tradesman. His passion was flying. He enjoyed piloting and flew over 40 years and was a member of the South County Flyers.
In addition to his beloved wife, Poppy is survived by two loving children: Michael J. and his wife, Elise of Cranston and Michele M. Paradis and her spouse, John Allen, of Scituate; two cherished granddaughters, the loves of his life: Emma E. Ucci of Cranston and Samantha L. Paradis of Rumford, ME; and his adored canine: “Miss Molly.”
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 10 AM in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 162 Pleasant St., West Warwick followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to: Our Lady of Good Counsel Church.
