JOHN W. AVERY, JR.

AVERY JR., JOHN W., 79, of East Greenwich passed away peacefully at Kent Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Born in Providence and raised in East Greenwich, John was a son of the late John W. and Stella (Padula) Avery.

John graduated from East Greenwich High School, class of 1964. He went on to enlist in the Rhode Island Army National Guard where he served for over 40 years before an honorable discharge. He was a lifelong New York Yankees fan and a New England Patriots fan.

He was the beloved father of John W. Avery III (Cheyenne) of Preston, CT and Kristen M. Avery (Chris Hodge) of Warwick. He was the adoring grandfather of Rydia, Ember and Roman. John was the brother of Karen Avery Lopes (Joe) of West Warwick, and Steven Avery (Teresa) of Cape Coral, Florida.

Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am with a Memorial Service at 11:30 am in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd.,(95/exit 18/Rte.3) Coventry. Interment with military honors at Saint Joseph Cemetery in West Greenwich to follow.
