BLINN, JOHN JULIAN., age 89, (Master Sergeant US Air Force, ret.) of San Antonio, Texas, and formerly of Rhode Island, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Kent Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Margaret “Peggy” (Gregory) Blinn. The couple were married in 1978. Born and raised in Westerly, RI, he was a son of the late Roger and Margaret (Riley) Blinn.
John graduated from Westerly High School in 1953. He went on to enlist in the United States Air Force serving during both the Korean and Vietnam era. After 23 years of dedicated service, John was honorably discharged. John was employed for 13 years at the West Warwick Post Office. John’s letter carrying route consisted of always walking over eight miles a day. Always staying active, John enjoyed playing golf, and he achieved four official hole-in-ones during his lifetime. At 72, John skydived with 3 of his grown children for his birthday. John played softball up into the age of 74. John had a beautiful voice, he loved to serenade his wife, friends, and family. Above all, John loved spending time with his family, to include his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John was the father of Daniel Blinn, John “Cary” Blinn, Sandra Blinn, and Micheal Blinn, who previously lived in Rhode Island but now reside in Texas, Marilyn Donahue of New Hampshire, David John Goodenough and Terrance Goodenough, both of Rhode Island, and Christopher Goodenough of Connecticut. He was the grandfather of John "J.C." Blinn, Juliana Blinn, and grandfather to many more; and the great-grandfather of Bailey and Kassidy Blinn.
A Celebration of John’s life will be this Summer 2025 at a date and time to be determined. Arrangements are with the Iannotti Funeral Home in Coventry. iannottifh.com
