JOHN CAREY Obituary

CAREY, JOHN M., 76, of Tampa St., West Warwick, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, March 5, 2020. He was the husband of Eileen F. (Madison) Carey for 51 years. Born in Seekonk, MA, he was a son of the late John R. and Mary (Araujo) Carey.

 

John was a graduate of East Providence High School, Class of 1962. He served in the US Army Medic Unit before being honorably discharged. John was employed as a machinist at Brown & Sharpe until the operation closed in 1982. More recently, he was a customer service representative at the Foxwoods Casino for fifteen years.

 

John enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

 

He was the father of Sean P. Carey and Michele M. Balme and her husband Craig, all of Coventry. John is also survived by his grandchildren Alexander Carey, Megan Carey, Haylee Balme and Ashley Balme. He was the brother of Agnes Ormsbee and her husband Charles of Swansea, MA, and Raymond Carey and his wife Geraldine of Johnston. John is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 10 am at Saint Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Rd., Warwick, RI. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Greenwich to follow. Visiting hours and flowers are respectfully omitted, memorial donations to the Rhode Island Pink Heals (www.ripinktrucks.com) would be appreciated.
