JOHN CRISCIONE Obituary

JOHN CRISCIONE, 97, of Coventry, passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side, at his home of over sixty years, on Sunday, September 21, 2025.  John was the beloved husband of the late Joyce (Cipolla) Criscione to whom he had been married for 58 years at the time of her passing in December 2022.  Born in Providence, RI he was the fifth child and first son of the late Emanuele and Concetta (Cintolo) Criscione.

Upon graduating high school, John served in the Merchant Marines during WW II.  A few years after his discharge he joined the US Army, serving as a sergeant stationed in Iceland during the Korean War.  John worked as a civilian for the Navy for over 35 years.  His years working as a supervisor in electronics in the NARFE at Quonset Point were his happiest.

John loved helping, whether it be a project that someone needed fixed or a community group that needed assistance. He was coach for many years in the Coventry Girls Softball League, a member of the Blessing Council Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Korean War Veterans Association. He was a founding member of the Vince Lombardi Lodge Sons of Italy and a member of the Grand Lodge of RI Sons of Italy.

John was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and Green Bay Packers. He loved to garden, grocery shop and travel, but he was most happy when he was spending time with his family.

John was the cherished father of Suzanne Tracy and her husband George (Ted) Tracy, Jr. of Coventry.  He was the devoted popie of Ted Tracy and his wife Julie of Coventry and Michaela Tracy and her fiancée Jeffrey Poage of Woburn, MA.  He was the adored great-grandfather of John David (Jack) Tracy and Emma Elizabeth Tracy, who brightened every day for him.  He was the caring brother of Emanuele Criscione of Cranston and Marianna Criscione of Providence.  He was the brother of the late Marianna Criscione, Sadie Andreozzi, Concetta Criscione, Rose Pompeii, Yolanda Criscione, Emanuela Iacono, Salvatore Criscione, Elena Dolan, Joseph Criscione, and Joseph Criscione.
