DELFINO, JOHN A., 88, of Fairview Avenue, Coventry, passed peacefully at Kent Hospital on Wednesday, October 14, 2020. He was predeceased by his wife Claire R. (Rocheleau) Delfino in 2013. They were married for 58 years. Born in Johnston, he was a son of the late Carlo and Flora (Mancini) Delfino.
John served his Country in the US Army -Infantry during the Korean War. He was a Forward Observer, where he was awarded 2 Bronze Stars and 2 Purple Hearts for his valor on the front lines. After honorable discharge from the Army, John and Claire were married and raised their family. He was a Autobody Manager for over 40 years at the former Liberty and Beecroft Automobile Dealerships in Cranston. John enjoyed spending time with his family, sailing, camping in Burlingame and Fisherman’s Memorial State Campgrounds, and spending time at his home on Quonochontaug Pond in Charlestown.
He was the father of Jonathan J. Delfino of West Warwick, Cathy A. Sliney and her husband Michael of Exeter, Craig J. Delfino CPA and his wife Fern of West Greenwich, and Lisa B. Delfino of North Kingstown.
He was the grandfather of Samantha, Tarah, Kate, and Jack. John was the brother of Anthony Delfino of New Port Richey, Florida, and the late Philip Carlo Delfino. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be Monday morning, October 19, 2020 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am with a Funeral Service followed by military honors at 11 AM in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd., (Rte.3) Coventry. Interment at Saint Joseph Cemetery in West Greenwich will be private.
