JOHN KANE Jr. Obituary

KANE, JOHN F. Jr., 86, passed away peacefully at the Rhode Island Veterans Home Community Living Center, Bristol on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

Born in Providence, John was a son of the late John F. and Mollie (Scurti) Kane.

A lifelong resident of Warwick, RI, John graduated from Veterans Memorial High School as a member of the Class of 1958. While a student, John began his lifelong career of service, proudly enlisting as a Cadet in the ROTC Marine Corps program. He later enlisted in the United States Army before his Honorable Discharge.

John then went on to work as a Federal Firefighter on Gould Island in Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay for a decade. He later was the caretaker of the Pontiac Free Library in Warwick for many years and also worked as a Security Guard at the Warwick Mall in his retirement. In his spare time, John loved reading books and watching movies. He was especially interested in American history, world geography, and had a special place in his heart for his feline friends.
