JOHN LAVALLEE Obituary

LAVALLEE, JOHN L., 95, of East Greenwich, passed away at the Bayview Rehabilitation at Scalabrini in North Kingstown, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, May 28, 2026. John was predeceased by his beloved wife Lucille D. (Levesque) Lavallee in 2006, and his beloved daughter Doris A. Lavallee, Esq. in 2023. Born in the village of Moosup, Connecticut, he was a son of the late Hector and Zorinne (Cote) Lavallee.

After graduating from high school, John enlisted in the United States Navy and served his Country during the Korean War as a Hospital Corpsman third class on the USS Oriskany & the USS Kearsarge.  After an honorable discharge, John was employed as a plasterer for J. Albert Levesque plastering for seven years. He then went on to employment at General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton as a logistics analyst, a dedicated career spanning 33 years before retiring in 1995. 

In his spare time, John was a scale model ship and airplane builder. With his meticulous attention to detail, these creations are heirloom collectables for the family. John also enjoyed playing golf for many years. He was a member of the American Legion post number two of West Warwick for 50 years.

He was the father of John A. Lavallee and his wife Cecelia of Warwick, Laurie A. Lavallee and her husband Thomas P. Crabtree of East Greenwich, and Michael A. Lavallee of St. Petersburg, Florida. He was the grandfather of Renee Maestas (Christopher), Lea Shippee, Amanda Karp (Robert), Heather Martin (Richard), US Navy Chief Gerald Taylor (Elizabeth), John Lavallee (Brittney), Ian Shippee and Paige Shippee. John is also survived by nine great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Roland Lavallee and Charles Lavallee.

His funeral will be on Monday, June 1, 2026 at 8:45 am from the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd.,(95/exit 18/Rte.3) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am in Christ the King Church, West Warwick. Interment with military honors in Saint Joseph Cemetery, West Warwick. Visiting hours are Sunday evening, May 31, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. iannottifh.com
