JOHN B. REILLY

Reilly, John B., 90, of Coventry, formerly of Garfield, NJ, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021 at home.  He was predeceased by his wife, Stephanie (Litschauer) in 2020.  He was the son of the late Bernard and Margaret (Sargarofsky) of Newark, NJ.

John was born and raised in Newark, NJ. Having lost his mother at age 9 and his dad at 19, he then lived with his aunt and uncle in Clifton, NJ.  After getting married and having children, John became very active in his church, Our Lady of Sorrows, Garfield, NJ, being a member of the Holy Name Society, an usher, and eventually helping to run the bingo games for years after his daughters graduated from OLS school.  He and Stephanie moved to Coventry, RI in 2004, joined SS. John & Paul Church and volunteered as budget counters.

The man loved sports- ALL sports, and would always make his spread sheet but was a diehard Yankee fan through and through. It was truly an experience to watch a Yankee game with him. 

He is survived by his daughters Margaret Swedits (James), and Elizabeth Milliman.  John is also survived by his grandchildren, Meaghan Swedits, Daniel Swedits and his wife Kayla, Christopher Milliman and Krista Swedits. The apples of his eye were his great-granddaughters, Riley Catherine and Raegan Cassidee Swedits.

A visiting hour, while observing Social Distance Guidelines, will be held Friday, January 8, 2021 from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Road (RTE 3), Coventry. A funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM. Burial and Committal Prayers in Woodland Cemetery, Coventry, will be private.
