JOHN H. “Jack” McFERRAN, 80, of Coventry, passed away peacefully at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence on Monday, July 6, 2026. John was the dear husband of Judith McFerran.
Born in Providence, Jack was a son of the late Joseph and Rose (Theroux) McFerran.
After graduating from high school, Jack proudly enlisted in the United States Navy. Before his Honorable Discharge, Jack served two tours of duty and was stationed on the USS Independence. He went on to work for many years in logistics for Bradford Soap Works, West Warwick, and also the Sealy Corporation from where he retired. In his spare time, Jack enjoyed coaching youth sports and volunteering for the Red Cross. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and was an accomplished woodworker. He would often craft doll houses, rocking horses, and wooden toys for the children of his family and closest friends. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
Jack was the brother of Joan Cassidy (Frank), Wayne McFerran, Robert McFerran (Claudette Hunt), and the late Judy St. George (Roland). He was the brother-in-law of Dennis Metivier (Barbara), and the late Richard Metivier (Natalie). Jack was the beloved uncle to many dear nieces and nephews.
John’s Military Funeral Honors and burial at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter is respectfully private.
