JOHN "JYRE" HEFFRON Obituary

JOHN  “JYRE”  “THE LOVE MAN” HEFFRON, 59, passed away with loving friends by his side on the morning of Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Sunny View Nursing Home, Warwick.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, John was a son of the late Frank and Margery (Michelmore) Heffron.

Having spent his earliest years growing up in Westfield, Massachusetts, Jyre attended Westfield High School and The Phoenix School, before attending Wesleyan University. Along with his larger than life and easy going personality, Jyre was also a naturally gifted and bright mind. Known as “The Love Man”, Jyre was also a Stagehand for The Grateful Dead and was a member of the intentional community dedicated to ecological living and the arts, known as Zendik Farms.

He was the brother of Anne Heffron of California and the late Sam Heffron. Among countless lifelong friends, Jyre is survived by Joseph E. Plummer of Providence, RI, and W. Aron Ringgold, also of Providence, RI.

Jyre’s burial and Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 24, 2026 at 1:30 PM at The Ellipse Green Burial Space in Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd, Providence.

All who loved Jyre are welcome to attend the graveside service on Friday.
