JOSE T. CORREIA

CORREIA, JOSE T., 86, of West Warwick, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January, 19, 2020. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Maria L. (Faria) Correia. 

Born in São Miguel, Azores, Jose was a son of the late Jose T. and Maria de Luz (Teixeira) Correia. In 1956, Jose enlisted in the Portuguese Army. After he was trained as a Telegraph Operator in Lisbon, he was transferred to the base in Terceira, Acores. Jose then moved to Bermuda for work, but it was there where Maria and Jose began their family together. In 1977, Jose and Maria relocated their new family to West Warwick, RI. 

Jose enjoyed tending to his flourishing gardens, homemade red wines, Benfica, playing cards with his family, and singing. 

Jose was the father of Joseph Correia and his wife Donna, Elso Correia and his wife Lynn, and Edelta Iafrate and her husband Brian; Grandfather of Brianna Correia, Brooke Correia, Dimetri Iafrate and Dante Iafrate. He is also survived by his siblings Antonio Correia, Joao Correia, and Maria Isaura Faria. 

His funeral will be Friday, January 24, 2020 at 8:45 am from the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., (Rte. 117) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Anthony Church, 1 Sunset Ave, West Warwick. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, West Warwick. Visiting hours Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 pm.
