PADULA, JOSEPH J., 35, of Alexandria, Virginia, and formerly of Rhode Island, passed away unexpectedly, on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. He was the beloved son of Rose-Marie P. (Charron) Padula and her companion Kevin C. Ritchotte of West Warwick, and Edward J. Padula.
Joseph graduated from Coventry High School in 2002 where he succeeded in both academics and on the wrestling team. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Florida State University. After College, Joseph enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country for 8 years. During his time in the Air Force he received several service medals and a Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Combat Medic Support while in Afghanistan. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 2016. Joseph had been a sales representative with Aflac Insurance where he achieved a citation of excellence in 2018.
He was the brother of Edward G. Padula of Arlington, VA. Joseph was the paternal grandson of Mary Ricci and her husband Peter of West Warwick. Joseph is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his paternal grandfather Edward D. Padula.
Visiting hours will be Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am followed by a Memorial Service with military honors at 11 am in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd., (Rte.3) Coventry.
