REID, JOSEPH T., “Papa Joe”, 80, was called home in the afternoon hours of Monday November 7, 2022 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI.
Joe was born on December 4, 1941 in Providence RI. Joe was the son of Andrew Reid and Ruth May (Tedeschi) Reid. He is survived by brothers Andrew J. Reid, Charles Norman Reid, and sister Robyn (Reid) Worthington, and joins his late sister Nancy Ann (Reid) Agostinelli in heaven. He leaves behind his children Joanne Rotondo, Robert L. Rotondo, Joseph T. Reid jr., and Robyn (Reid) Andreoli. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Joe served in the US Army stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, as an instructor for the Pershing Missile System. He was commended for his outstanding performance by the Army after two years of service in June of 1967.
Papa Joe enjoyed cooking, playing golf, bowling, traveling and warm weather. Above all, he loved his growing family. He spent most of his time talking about his family and telling everyone about his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to help people and would do so at every opportunity, even if that meant sacrificing his own time or schedule. He volunteered at Good Neighbors soup kitchen in his later days. Joe lived a happy and honorable life.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Road (RTE 3), Coventry, RI. Inurnment with Military Funeral Honors at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, will follow.
