GIACHERI, KATHLEEN B. (KANAPLE), 66, of Coventry, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Kent Hospital, Warwick. She was the loving wife of 41 years to Michael Giacheri. Born in New Britain, CT, she was a daughter of Lois (Paulson) Lagasse and the late Rudolph Kanaple.
Kathleen was a lifelong racing fan, having garnered the nickname, “Miss Modified”. It was at the race track where she met “Mr. Modified”, her husband of 41 years, Michael. And it was at the race track where they spent memorable weekends together with their son, Nicholas, and until her passing, with her grandson Jonathan. Her outgoing personality made her well known throughout the racing circuit and she was a writer for The Racin’ Paper for many years. Her favorite modified driver was Richie Evans and Cruz Pedregon of funny car racing. Kathleen was also the secretary for the “Good Timers” Bowling League.
Kathleen was the loving mother of Nicholas Giacheri of Coventry; Grandmother of Jonathan Giacheri. She was the sister of Kevin Kanaple, Keith Kanaple, and Karen Gowel, all of Connecticut, and the late Kennth Kanaple.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM with a service at 1:00 PM in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Road (RTE. 3), Coventry, RI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made in Kathleen’s memory to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org) or American Heart Association (heart.org) would be appreciated.
