LOIS L. (SEARLE) UNDERWOOD

Lois Lee Underwood passed away at the Hope Hospice Center in Providence on Thursday, February 19, 2026 after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Freeman and Mary Searle of West Greenwich, RI. She leaves behind her husband David Underwood and her sons Gordon, Greg and his wife Patricia, Glenn and his wife Faith, her grandchildren Timon, Ryan and his wife Sofija, Logan and his wife Michelle and her great-grandson Theo. She also leaves behind her sister Mary Ann Brunette.

Lois was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked many years at Kent County Hospital in the pediatric section before moving on to work at the Trudeau Center. She loved taking care of children. She loved hiking and hiked several of the four thousand foot mountain peaks in New England with her husband David. She also loved birds and flowers and every spring watched her humming bird feeder for the first arrivals. Lois was known for her home-made lemon meringue pies and baked beans which she made for many years to raise funds for the Greene Public Library.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Lois to the Greene Public Library Association or the First Christian Church of Rice City or the Appalachian Mountain Club. As per her request, no services will be held.
