LORI-JEAN SAMMARTINO Obituary

SAMMARTINO (SIMEONE), LORI-JEAN, 68, of Saunderstown, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of 43 years to Rocco M. Sammartino.

Born in Providence, Lori was the daughter of the late Ralph and Marie D. (Constantino) Simeone.

After earning her Master’s Degree from Providence College, Lori was a dedicated and devoted elementary school teacher for the West Warwick School Department until deciding to stay home to raise her family.  Lori’s family was always at the center of her life. From long days at Bonnet Shores Beach Club to family vacations, celebrations, and dinners together, those moments meant everything to her. She was a devoted and loving wife to Rocco, her best friend and partner for more than 43 years. The two of them were rarely apart, always seeming to have the best time wherever they were. Together, they built a life that was filled with laughter, love, generosity, and kindness and raised their daughters to do the same. The brightest light in Lori’s life were her two grandchildren, Amelia and Rocco, who she adored.

Outside of her family, Lori had many close friends and cousins she loved to spend time with. She enjoyed nothing more than shopping and having lunch with her girlfriends. Her smile was contagious and spending time with Lori usually meant you were going to have a lot of laughs and stories to share for years to come. Her lasting legacy will not only live on in her three daughters, but also through many of the friendships she built over her lifetime.

Lori was the guiding light and a source of endless love, laughter, and support to her cherished daughters, Cara J. Sammartino, her husband Daniel Cerio, Kristen M. (Sammartino) DiNezza, her husband Luke DiNezza, and Elizabeth “Liz” (Sammartino) Billings, her husband Graham Billings. Adoring grandmother of Rocco and Amelia. She was the loving sister of the late Joseph R. Simeone. Lori is also survived by her many nieces and nephews, with a special thank you to her nephew, Daniel.

The family wants to extend a special thank you to Dr. Paul DiSilvestro and his team at Women & Infants hospital who provided care to Lori for over a decade. An additional thank you to the team at Hope Hospice who provided comforting end of life care to Lori and her family.
