MADELEINE MARIANNE (RICHARD) ROBERTS

 ROBERTS, Madeleine Marianne (Richard), 94, formerly of West Warwick, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Riverview Healthcare Community.  Born in Coventry, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Yvonne (Peltier) Richard.

     Madeleine was co-owner of Roberts’ Novelty, later renamed Roberts’ Toys.  She worked long hours building the business.  She retired from the business to take care of her family and to cook.

     She was nicknamed “Mad” by some, though, at the rectory, she was known as “Hazel”.  She was a wonderful cook who could make even a finicky eater like what was before them.  It was said that her left overs were better than the meal the first time around.  There was always enough food for all, no matter how many people came to the table unexpectedly.

     There was always something to eat when you visited her.  She was always there to visit except when she got a call that someone needed her help.  Then she would drop everything and lend a helping hand.  She was a teaser and a pincher her whole life.  She worked hard and put her heart in everything she did.  She led a full and happy life, always looking up when she was down.

     She leaves two children, Mark, and wife Jeanette and Linda, and wife Denise; her many grandchildren, Nikki Horn, Christopher, Monica, who died soon after birth, Gabriel and wife Myriah, Jacob and wife Trisha, Michael, Daniel, Rebecca, Jacinta and Sarah.  Her easy going nature made her a pleasure to be around and was a help to all her caregivers and all those who had the opportunity to know her in her later years.

     Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, West Warwick.  Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Warwick.  Visiting hours and flowers respectfully omitted.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cornerstone Adult Day Services, 2364 Post Rd., Suite 100, Warwick, RI 02886, the Alzheimer’s Association of RI, 245 Waterman St., #306, Providence, RI 02906 or to Hope Health, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 would be appreciated.  Arrangements by the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, Coventry.
