MARCO B. MARTINS

MARTINS, MARCO B., 48, of Coventry, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 26, 2024. He was the loving husband of 24 years to Cindy M. (Hilario) Martins. 

Born on the small island of Terceira in the Azores, Portugal, Marco immigrated to the United States when he was just eleven years old.  He met the love of his life, Cindy, during his time at Davies High School in Lincoln, Rhode Island where he graduated in 1995.  He and Cindy made their home in Coventry, Rhode Island, where they raised their beloved son, Colton.

If there’s one thing to know about Marco, it’s that he was a family man who always put loved ones first. To him, nothing was more  important than his wife and son, and the life they built with one another. Memories of Marco are filled with acts of caring and love for Cindy and Colton. Whether it was being silly and laughing together, going on adventures, or the pride he showed in the man Colton is becoming, Marco’s life was a testament to being an exemplary dad and loving husband.

Regardless if you were a friend or family, Marco was someone you could always rely on. Whether you were stuck on the side of the road, or just needed someone to talk to, Marco never hesitated to help. To his younger brother, he was a father figure, and an example of the type of man to strive to be.

His life was marked by the care he took in everything he did. This included time he spent improving and upkeeping his home and landscape, building things,  keeping his truck immaculate, and cooking delicious meals for his family. At Brown University, he took pride in creating a strong team. 

Marco loved nature and enjoyed spending time in the woods and by the ocean. There, he found calm in hunting, fishing, and walking paths with his dog Brooke. 

Aside from Cindy and Colton, Marco is survived by his father, Aurelio Martins-Vargas, of Canada; his siblings, Marcio Martins, Brian Ramos, Jessica Vander-Linden, Jonathan Antunes, and Jayvian Antunes. He is also survived by his beloved canine companions, Brooke and Nova. 

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Wednesday, September 4, from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM in the Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington Street (ROUTE 117), Coventry. Burial is respectfully private.
