MARY JOSEPH Obituary

JOSEPH, MARY M., 91, of Foster, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at West View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, West Warwick.

Born in East Providence, she was one of seven children born to the late Anthony A. and Mary M. (Perry) Joseph.

From the early age of 14, Mary resided on her family’s farm in Foster. Living on the farm with her parents and siblings, she came to appreciate the effort and diligence that is needed to maintain farming property. Commuting from the woods of Foster, Mary worked as an Assembler for Leviton Manufacturing in Warwick.

Mary was a proud Elder member of Foster’s “Young at Heart Club”. An advocate for people having the ability to share their opinions, Mary was a familiar voice on Rhode Island’s News Talk Radio WPRO. A frequent caller, especially on the Matt Allen Show, Mary was a well known and beloved figure in Rhode Island’s political and social dialogue. She was never afraid to share her point of view, but always ended her phone calls with well wishes, even to those who sometimes disagreed. Treasured by fellow WPRO listeners and radio program hosts, on June 28th of every year, Mary received hundreds of birthday cards which filled her heart with joy.

A reverent follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Mary was a devout Catholic. Throughout her life, Mary looked upon her faith to guide her through her most difficult days, which included the passing of her son. Through the power of prayer and the holiness of the Eucharist, she passed along hope and inspired others who were faced with their own obstacles.

Mary was the mother of the late Paul Robert Anthony Joseph. She was the devoted “Aunt Mamie” to her loving nieces and nephews. Mary will also be sorely missed by her two loving granddaughters, as well as her many friends in the community of Foster, a town in which she loved so much.

In addition to her late son and parents, Mary is predeceased by her siblings, Mary, John, Gertrude, Anthony, Marion, and Manuel.
