DI PADUA, MARY LOU (BUSH) 84, of Coventry, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, May 3, 2026. Born in Providence on April 29, 1942, to the late Raymond F. and Regina (Pearl) Bush, Mary Lou grew up with a deep appreciation for family and faith.
Mary Lou was the devoted wife of Robert A. Di Padua for nearly 63 years, a partnership marked by unwavering love and a lifetime of shared memories. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the joy of raising their family.
She was the adoring mother of Robert J. Di Padua and his wife, Tracy (Talbot) Di Padua, and Jeanna (Di Padua) Sinotte and her husband, the late Lt. John J. Sinotte.
Mary Lou was the sister of Anna R. McDowell of New Braunfels, TX; the late Raymond T. Bush of Cumberland; and Barbara J. Bush of Narragansett.
She was also the proud “Mammy” to her cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Mainelli and her fiancé, Gary Murphy; David Mainelli and his wife, Katelyn Guignard; and Abigail and Julianna Sinotte, each of whom brought her immense love and happiness.
Mary Lou attended St. Michael’s School and went on to graduate from St. Mary’s Bay View Academy in 1960. During her time at Bay View, she served as class president, editor of the yearbook, and an integral leader of her student council. Her yearbook biography captured her perfectly. She was admired for her endearing manner, known as a fashionable dresser,
excellent student, and was always celebrated for her remarkable writing skills.
These talents carried into her working life. At the George G. Metcalf Advertising Agency, Mary Lou’s gift for writing and communication flourished, earning her opportunities to shine both creatively and professionally. She later brought her leadership and expertise to Greater Providence Deposit and Trust where she served as Director of Teller Training and Operations, guiding others with the same grace that defined her character.
Mary Lou also played a vital role in their family business as Vice President of Lou’s World of Golf, Inc., working closely alongside her husband, contributing her support and loyalty for over five decades.
Above all, she was a kind and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Mary Lou’s greatest accomplishment was her family, whose lives she filled with happiness, laughter, and a deep commitment to God. Her gentle presence, beautiful smile, and positive spirit will forever live in their hearts. They take solace in knowing Mary Lou is now at peace, held in the close embrace of those who passed before her.
A special thank you to the Beacon Hospice staff, who played an integral part in keeping her comfortable as her life’s journey was coming to an end. Mary Lou’s family is grateful for their medical expertise, gentle care, and steadfast emotional support. Mary Lou’s family would also like to thank Rev. Paul R. Lemoi for his spiritual support, guidance, love and friendship shown to Mary Lou and her family.
Her funeral will be on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 8:45 am from the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd., (95/exit 18/Rte.3) Coventry, with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 6 St. Vincent de Paul St., Coventry, RI 02816. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Greenwich. Visiting hours will be on Friday evening May 8, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
