MATTHEW GERVASIO JR. Obituary

GERVASIO JR., MATTHEW J. “MATT”, 72, of Kiley Way, Coventry, passed away at the Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, March 1, 2026. He was the husband of Carol S. (Fusaro) Gervasio. They were happily married for 43 years. Born in Warwick, he was a son of the late Matthew J. and Dorothy A. (Thibodeau) Gervasio.


Matthew graduated from Coventry High School in 1972, where he was a lineman on the high school football team. He owned and operated the former Gervasio Painting Company as well as with his brother Robert, the Gervasio Real Estate Developing Company, until his retirement in 2007. Matthew was a dedicated parishioner of Saints John & Paul Church. 
Matthew loved spending time with his family, especially with his five grandchildren. He also enjoyed skiing and riding snowmobiles in northern New England. As a season ticket holder, Matthew was a tried and true New England Patriots Football fan.


Matthew was the father of Angela M. Gervasio of Moosup, Connecticut and Travis M. Gervasio and his wife Josselyn of Woonsocket. He was the grandfather of Gianna Stanley, Garret Stanley, Maci Tremblay, Braxton Gervasio and Brycen Gervasio. Matthew was the brother of Constance M. Kane, Steven J. Gervasio (Darlene), Robert A. Gervasio (Diane), and Thomas A. Gervasio (Sandra). Matthew is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.


Visiting hours will be on Friday, March 6, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd.,(95/exit 18/Rte.3) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am in Saints John & Paul Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Cancer Society for Colorectal Cancer (www.cancer.org) would be appreciated. iannottifh.com
